Postdoctoral Research Associate, School of Human Ecology
University of Wisconsin-Madison
I am a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I recently earned a Ph.D. in the Department of Educational Policy Studies.
As a scholar of education policy, I use tools from anthropology and sociology to examine the relationship between K-12 education policy and practice, with a particular focus on how students, educators, and community members challenge and reproduce racism and intersecting oppressions through their everyday practices. I have expertise in teachers, policy and practice, and school discipline, as well as care theories, critical race theories, and critical policy analysis. My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Educational Researcher, Race Ethnicity and Education, and Theory and Research in Education.

Prior to graduate school, I taught 1st grade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At UW-Madison, I teach courses in education foundations and education policy, including Democracy and Education; Race, Ethnicity, and Inequality in American Education; and Schools and Society.
